West Michigan fell to Lake County 3-2 on Friday night, ending the series and the season for the Whitecaps. Jared Wesson got the start for the club and would end up taking the loss, allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings of work. Zach Samuels came on in relief for him and allowed another run to the Captains to give them a 3-1 lead after six innings. Jordan Pratt held them scoreless the rest of the way, and West Michigan had its chances in the final few innings. The club scored one run in the seventh via a Robert Brantly RBI single that scored Avisail Garcia to get them within a run. In the eighth, Jeff Rowland led off with a single and then advanced to second, but was stranded there, and then in the ninth, Clay Jones ripped a one-out single but couldn't get past first base as Brantly struck out and Hernan Perez lined out to end the game. Wade Gaynor also had two hits and drove in the 'Caps first run in the losing effort.
