The Mud Hens continued their winning ways as of late on Thursday with a 7-2 triumph over Syracuse Duane Below was the man on the mound this time around and did not disappoint, giving up one run on five hits in seven innings of work He also struck out five and walked just one Zach Simons pitched two innings of relief, allowing the final run, to wrap things up Andy Dirks had a big game from the leadoff slot, going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, scoring once and driving in two Bryan Pounds also went 4-for-4 with a double and a run, and John Murrian added two hits, two runs and two RBI

In a prime example of how truly jumbled the Western division is right now in the EL, Erie fell to Reading 4-0 on Thursday, and dropped from being tied for first to being tied for last Jacob Turner took the loss in his worst outing (and first decision) of the year Turner gave up four runs on nine hits in seven innings of work with a walk and four strikeouts Jared Gayhart did toss two shutout innings of relief The offense meanwhile was able to string together just four singles, including two from Jamie Johnson

The Flying Tigers fell again to Clearwater on Thursday, losing 9-6 Trevor Feeney took the brunt of the abuse, giving up eight runs in four innings of work and taking the loss for the club Zach Samuels then allowed a run in two innings of work, followed up by Michael Morrison and Kenny Faulk, each of whom pitched a scoreless inning At the plate, Tony Plagman was responsible for the run production once again, belting a three run homer and driving in four runs total Brent Wyatt also had a good game, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI after subbing in for Daniel Fields early in the contest

The Whitecaps losing skid reached nine games on Thursday as the Lugnuts swept the doubleheader with the 'Caps, 4-0 and 4-2 Kyle Ryan got the start and took the loss in the first game, giving up all four runs (three earned) in five innings of work The 'Caps offense scattered seven singles but couldn't generate any runs Patrick Cooper got the start in the second game and took the loss, giving up three runs in 3 1/3 innings He allowed just one hit, but walked three Clemente Mendoza also allowed an unearned run in relief The offense managed just four hits this time around, with P.J. Polk and Nick Castellanos scoring a run each
