Featured performance: Avisail Garcia belted the game-winning homer in the ninth to push Lakeland to a win. It was one of four homers on the day for the Flying Tigers.

May 15th Games

AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Toledo 6, Gwinnett 5
18-19, 3rd in West Division

The Mud Hens picked up a close 6-5 win over Gwinnett on Sunday afternoon as they moved back to .500 for the year. Adam Wilk got the start and picked up the win, giving up four runs in five innings of work with no walks and six strikeouts. Robbie Weinhardt then tossed two perfect innings of relief including three strikeouts. Fu-Te Ni and Brendan Wise combined to allow a run in the eighth but maintained the lead, and Enrique Gonzalez then pitched the ninth for his fifth save. Omir Santos had a big game at the plate, belting a solo home run and driving in three runs total. Cale Iorg also ripped a pair of doubles, scored three times and drove in a run while Clete Thomas added three hits including one double and also drove in a run.

AA Erie Seawolves - Erie 2, Altoona 1 (13)
16-19, 6th in Western Division

It took 13 innings, but the SeaWolves were able to snap their losing skid, picking up a 2-1 win over Altoona. Mark Sorensen was excellent as the starter, giving up just one run on five hits in eight innings of work. Zach Simons then tossed three innings of shutout relief, before Rob Waite tossed an inning, who was the pitcher on the mound when Justin Henry ripped a triple and then scored on an errant throw to take the lead. In the bottom half of the 13th, Austin Wood recorded one out to get a hold, and Chance Ruffin retired the final two batters to earn his fourth save. Brandon Douglas ripped a double in the game and drove in the team's other run. Henry had three hits for the game.

A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – Lakeland 6, Charlotte 5
18-19, 4th in North Division

Like Erie, the Flying Tigers picked up a one run victory on Sunday, though they didn't need extra innings to do it as they scored a run via an Avisail Garcia solo homer in top half of the ninth to take the lead and then had Kenny Faulk slam the door shut in the bottom half to secure the win. Jay Voss got the start and took a no decision, giving up five runs (four earned) in six innings of work. He also struck out six. Jordan Pratt got the win for tossing two scoreless innings of relief, and Faulk earned his eighth save for his perfect ninth. At the plate, in addition to Garcia, Tony Plagman and Ryan Soares each added solo shots, and Daniel Fields belted a three run blast.

A West Michigan Whitecaps - Postponed: Rain
15-20, 7th in Eastern division

West Michigan and Lake County were again rained out on Sunday. Both games from the weekend will be made up in a couple of weeks when West Michigan and Lake County face off again.
