AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Louisville 4, Toledo 2
30-41, 4th in West Division
Louisville completed its sweep over Toledo on Sunday, with the Hens falling 4-2 as again they couldn't get much going at the plate. Andy Oliver got the start and took the loss, giving up four runs in 5 1/3 innings of work. He also walked three and struck out four. Brendan Wise and Jose Ortega combined to not allow a run over the final 2 2/3 innings. At the plate, Bryan Pounds belted a solo home run, while Ben Guez added two hits and an RBI.
AA Erie Seawolves - Erie 3, New Hampshire 1
33-34, 5th in Western Division
The SeaWolves topped New Hampshire on Sunday, 3-1. Ramon Garcia got the start and earned the win, giving up a run on just two hits in six innings of work. He also walked one and struck out four. Austin Wood then tossed two scoreless innings of relief for the hold, and Chance Ruffin pitched the ninth to pick up his eighth save. At the plate, Michael Bertram reached base three times including one double and scored twice. Audy Ciriaco and C.J. Retherford each contributed a hit and an RBI.
A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – All Star Break
34-33, 5th in North Division
The Flying Tigers are on break, with the All-Star Game on Saturday in Clearwater. They return to action on Monday.
A West Michigan Whitecaps - Lake County 10, West Michigan 5 (13)
32-37, 6th in Eastern division
The Whitecaps closed out the first half of the season with a 10-5 loss to Lake County in 13 innings. Brian Flynn got the start for the 'Caps and a no decision, giving up three runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings of work with a walk and four strikeouts. Logan Hoch tossed 2 2/3 innings of scoreless, no-hit relief for the club. Nate Newman however lost the lead for the 'Caps, only to see them get it back with a run in the bottom of the eighth, and then have Bruce Rondon lose the lead as well. Patrick Cooper took over from there, and for four innings, was masterful. But then the 13th came in which he got hammered, being credited with all five runs to score. At the plate, Nick Castellanos had three hits including a double and drove in three runs. Rob Brantly also added two hits including a triple and scored three times.
SS-A Connecticut Tigers - Connecticut 3, Lowell 1
2-1, t-1st in Stedler Division
Connecticut picked up its first series win on Sunday after a 3-1 win over Lowell. Brennan Smith got the start and earned the win for the CT-Tigers, giving up just three hits and no runs in 5 1/3 innings with four walks and nine strikeouts. Fernando Celis allowed one unearned run in 1 1/3 innings, while Jeff Barfield pitched the final 2 1/3 innings allowing just one hit as he picked up his first save. At the plate, Samir Rijo had a hit and drove in two runs, while Zachary Maggard drove in the team's other run. Jason King scored two of those runs as he went 2-for-5 with a triple.
