MiLB Recaps: Strieby, Ni Lead Hens

July 19th Games

AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Toledo 7, Norfolk 1
44-54, 4th in West Division

Fu-Te Ni shined again as the starter, tossing seven innings and allowing just one run with four strikeouts. Ryan Strieby added a two run homer and Max St. Pierre added a three run shot.

AA Erie Seawolves - Trenton 9, Erie 2
46-50, 5th in Western Division

Jay Voss took the loss but had a respectable outing, giving up four runs in 6 2/3 innings, while Brendan Wise and Tyler Stohr both got roughed up, combining to allow five runs with Wise not recording an out. Rawley Bishop went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – Charlotte 9, Lakeland 0
11-12, t-4th in North Division

Jared Wesson gave up five runs (four earned) in four innings of work, while Luke Putkonen yielded four more runs in two innings of relief for Lakeland. Eric Roof and Tony Plagman each had two hits in the loss.

A West Michigan Whitecaps - Off Day
13-11, 4th in Eastern division

SS-A Connecticut Tigers - Tri-City 10, Connecticut 6
13-16, 3rd in Stedler Division

Matt Crouse allowed six runs (five earned) in five innings as the starter, but Guido Knudson took the loss in relief for allowing three runs without recording an out among the four batters he faced. Jason King ripped a two run homer, while Javier Azcona added three hits and drove in three runs.

R GCL Tigers - Blue Jays 5, Tigers 4
9-17, t-5th in North Division

Brian Stroud took the loss, allowing four runs in six innings of work. Scott Green tossed two innings of relief, allowing a run on two hits with two strikeouts. Adolfo Reina had two hits including a double and two RBI, while Patrick Smith added a solo home run.

16-26, 3rd in DSL SPM Division

R VSL Tigers - Tigers 5, Mariners 4
19-34, 6th in VSL

Jose Tablante allowed two runs in five innings as the starter, but Jose Rodriguez earned the win in relief for tossing 2 1/3 innings of shutout baseball. Angel Nesbitt gave up a run but held onto the lead to pick up the save. Orvin Tovar had a two run homer while Harold Castro added two hits and two RBI. David Gonzalez also went 3-for-4 including a double and scored twice.
