August 2nd Games

AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Syracuse 17, Toledo 2
52-60, 4th in West Division

It was an ugly day for Toledo as no one could stop the Syracuse offense. Thad Weber got the start and the loss, allowing seven runs (six earned) in four innings of work. Enrique Gonzalez then allowed five more in two innings, Jose Ortega allowed two runs in two innings, and Brendan Wise gave up three in his one inning. Toledo countered with just three hits. Scott Thorman had a hit and an RBI, while Will Rhymes added a hit and walked three times.

AA Erie Seawolves - Erie 6, New Britain 5 (12)
52-57, 5th in Western Division

Justin Henry singled home Jamie Johnson in the 12th inning for a walk-off win for the 'Wolves. Jared Gayhart earned the win in relief for tossing three shutout innings. Brooks Brown started, allowing four runs (three earned) in five innings. Henry finished the game with three hits and two RBI. Brandon Douglas and Brent Wyatt also each drove in two runs.

16-20, 6th in North Division

A West Michigan Whitecaps - West Michigan 9, Dayton 6
20-17, 4th in Eastern division

The 'Caps got a win behind Alex Burgos, who earned his sixth win of the year as he struck out ten in 6 1/3 innings, allowing just two runs on four hits. Jade Todd allowed four runs in relief, but Nate Newman came on and got the final two outs to get the save. Nick Castellanos went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI while Luis Sanz added two doubles and two runs driven in. Luis Castillo also went 3-for-6 with an RBI and scored twice.

SS-A Connecticut Tigers - Auburn 13, Connecticut 3
19-24, 3rd in Stedler Division

Like Toledo, it was a rough day for the CT-Tigers, with all three pitchers getting hit around as well. Wilsen Palacios took the loss, allowing eight runs (six earned) in 4 1/3 innings. Nick Avila allowed three runs in 2 2/3 innings, and Rayni Guichardo gave up two in an inning. Tyler Collins went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and Jeff Holm added two hits including a double and two RBI.
