MiLB Recaps: Hens Win in Turner's First Start

Each morning, check in for the Minor League Recap Blog. Get all of the results from the games, the latest standings and the daily blog recapping the previous day's action. Featured performance: Jacob Turner was the attraction, but Argenis Diaz stole the show as Toledo won in extras.

August 11th Games

AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Toledo 6, Louisville 5 (11)
57-63, 4th in West Division

Toledo squeaked out a one run victory in 11 innings when Argenis Diaz singled home Ben Guez to score the walk-off game winning run. Jacob Turner made his Toledo debut and walked away with a no decision, giving up four runs in 5 1/3 innings with two walks and six strikeouts. Ryan Perry tossed 2 1/3 innings, while Enrique Gonzalez got the win for tossing an inning of relief. Clete Thomas added a two run homer, while Diaz went 4-for-5 in the game.

AA Erie Seawolves - New Hampshire 3, Erie 0
56-61, 5th in Western Division

Drew Smyly pitched well but took the loss, giving up a run on three hits in five innings of work. He did struggle with his command though, walking six and striking out five. Rob Waite also allowed two runs in two innings. The SeaWolves managed just five hits, with doubles from Rawley Bishop and Bryan Pounds.

A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – GM1: Lakeland 6, Daytona 0
GM2: Daytona 4, Lakeland 0

19-25, 6th in North Division

Mark Sorensen tossed six shutout innings in the first game to earn the win, walking none and striking out four. Kenny Faulk pitched a scoreless seventh to wrap up the win. Shawn Roof had a hit and two RBI, while William Bergolla added a three run homer. Jared Wesson took the loss in the second game, giving up two runs in six innings. Zach Samuels allowed the other two runs while recording just one out. The offense managed just three hits and only had two at-bats with runners in scoring position.

A West Michigan Whitecaps - Dayton 7, West Michigan 2
24-22, t-4th in Eastern division

Brian Flynn got the start and took the loss, giving up six runs in six innings on six hits. He also walked two and struck out seven. Steven Moya belted a two run homer for the club's only runs of the day. Jason Krizan and Luis Castillo each added two hits.
