AAA Toledo Mud Hens - Toledo 6, Columbus 2
66-77, 4th in West Division
Fu-Te Ni was strong as Toledo picked up a 6-2 victory over Columbus. Ni earned the win, going 7 1/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) with no walks and two strikeouts. Brendan Wise pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to secure the win. At the plate, Clete Thomas had a big game, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored including belting a two run homer. Justin Henry also went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, and Jeff Salazar had two hits and drove in a run.
AA Erie Seawolves - Bowie 10, Erie 2
67-74, 5th in Western Division
The SeaWolves were hammered by Bowie on Sunday, losing 10-2. Trevor Feeney got the start and took the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits in four innings of work. Rob Waite alleight two more runs in 2 1/3 innings, while L.J. Gagnier was responsible for the final four runs, recording just one out in the process. Brandon Douglas went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and John Murrian added a solo home run.
A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – Lakeland 3, Tampa 2
28-40, 6th in North Division
Lakeland closed out its 2011 campaign on a winning note, picking up a 3-2 win over Tampa. Jared Wesson earned his 15th win of the year and 25th decision overall, giving up two runs in eight innings of work. Wesson also walked one and struck out six. Matt Little came on in the ninth and earned his sixth save for tossing a scoreless ninth inning. Avisail Garcia had a triple, scored once and drove in a run, while Jordan Lennerton and Corey Jones each had a hit and an RBI.
A West Michigan Whitecaps - West Michigan 10, Fort Wayne 3
38-31, t-3rd in Eastern division
With a big win on Sunday, the Whitecaps have set up a winner-takes-all game on Monday with Fort Wayne - the winner snags the final Midwest League playoff spot. Kevin Eichhorn was the star on the mound, giving up three runs in eight innings of work to earn his 11th win of the season. Daniel Bennett then tossed a scoreless ninth with a pair of strikeouts. At the plate, Nick Castellanos went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a solo home run, while Curt Casali added a home run and three RBI. Steven Moya also added a hit, a run and two RBI, while Ryan Hamme went 3-for-5.
SS-A Connecticut Tigers - Lowell 6, Connecticut 5 (16)
39-35, 2nd in Stedler Division
A win would have clinched a Stedler division title for the CT-Tigers, but Connecticut fell to Lowell in 16 innings, losing the crown to Vermont in the process. Brennan Smith got the start and gave up two runs in seven innings of work. After Josh Barfield gave up three more runs, hope appeared to be fading fast, but Connecticut made a big comeback with four runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at five and force extras, featuring doubles from Eugenio Suarez and Dean Green. Jeff Holm singled home Aaron Westlake for the tying run. From there, each team would go scoreless for six innings until a Tyler Collins error and a Nick Avila wild pitch allowed the go-ahead run to score. Fernando Celis did toss four soreless innings of relief in extras. Green finished 3-for-7 with two doubles and two RBI while Matt Perry added three hits and an RBI.
