While the Toledo Mud Hens had a rough year, finishing 67-77 and 21 games behind division-winning Columbus, there were still several bright spots to come out of the team for Tigers fans. The team's record was not necessarily indicative of the talent level on the team, as many of the top players were shuttled between Toledo and Detroit during the season.

"The best thing you can say [about the season] is a little streaky," said first-year manager Phil Nevin. "We had a couple of rough months, one really good month and a few average months. First and foremost, we're Detroit Tigers here, and things are going really well up there, and we've had a lot of players from here go up there and contribute."
