AAA Toledo Mud Hens
1-0, 1st in West Division
A record crowd at Fifth Third Field watched Adam Wilk throw five innings of one-hit ball as he picked up the win in the Mud Hens' season-opener. A crowd of 13,227 fans filled the ballpark. Wilk also had six strikeouts, allowing no runs. Ryan Strieby led Toledo at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored. Audy Ciriaco went 1-for-4 with a solo home run.
AA Erie Seawolves
0-2, 5th in Eastern Division
Zack Segovia struggled in his first start of the season, giving up three earned runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings, picking up the loss. At the plate, Michael Rockett went 2-for-4 with a triple and one RBI as the only Erie player with multiple hits. Rawley Bishop went 0-for-2 with a sac fly.
High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
2-0, T-1st in North Division
Nick Castellanos hit a two-out double to score the go-ahead run in the 10th inning and later scored as the Flying Tigers won their second straight game. Castellanos went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two walks, two runs scored and one RBI. Kevin Eichhorn gave up one unearned run in six innings and left in line for the win, but Bruce Rondon gave up three hits and the tying run in the bottom of the ninth. Patrick Cooper threw a perfect 10th inning to pick up the save.
Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
0-2, T-7th in Eastern Division
Daniel Bennett gave up two earned runs in the bottom of the ninth, blowing a save and picking up the loss. Tommy Collier got the start and gave up one unearned run in four innings of work. Danry Vasquez went 3-for-3 with a walk at the plate. Curt Casali went 1-for-4 and hit a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the ninth, but Bennett gave up three hits and a walk in 1/3 of an inning in the bottom of the ninth, losing the game.
