May 21st Games

AAA Toledo Mud Hens
23-22, 2nd in West Division

Team R H E
Syracuse 3 7 2
Toledo 1 4 2

Thad Weber pitched a quality start, giving up three earned runs over six innings, but picked up the loss as the Toledo offense struggled. A combination of five Syracuse pitchers held Toledo just four hits. Quintin Berry led the Mud Hens, going 2-for-3. Justin Henry went 0-for-4, but had the lone RBI. Toledo left 10 runners on base and went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

AA Erie Seawolves
20-22, T-3rd in Eastern Division

Team R H E
Reading 5 12 1
Erie 3 11 1

Jordan Lennerton went 2-for-5 with his 10th home run of the season, but the Erie offense failed to capitalize on its opportunities. The SeaWolves left 10 runners on base and went 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position. Zack Segovia gave up four earned runs over six innings in the start and recorded the loss. Rawley Bishop went 1-for-4 with a solo home run.

High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
23-19, 2nd in North Division

Team R H E
Lakeland 9 13 0
Bradenton 8 12 1

Nick Castellanos hit an RBI-single in the top of the 10th and the Flying Tigers held on for the win. How the game got to extras was pretty wild. Lakeland led 4-3 entering the ninth and added on four runs to presumably put the game away. But Ryan Woolley and Tyler White combined to give up five runs in the bottom frame, sending the game to extras. Shawn Teufel gave up three earned runs in the start. White ended up with the win, and Victor Larez pitched a perfect 10th for the save. Castellanos went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Hernan Perez went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
20-25, 7th in Eastern Division

Team R H E
South Bend 6 10 1
West Michigan 1 5 0

Brennan Smith gave up six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings and picked up the loss. The West Michigan bats were held in check most of the night. Jason King went 2-for-4 with a double. Aaron Westlake went 0-for-4 with the lone RBI. The Whitecaps left nine runners on base.

VSL Tigers
2-5, T-3rd

Team R H E
Mariners 10 12 0
Tigers 3 5 2

Junior Camaripano gave up six runs (four earned) in one-plus innings. He threw a scoreless sixth, but pitched to seven batters in the seventh and couldn’t get any of them out. Gabriel Tenia went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Jose Zambrano went 1-for-4 with a run scored.
