TigsTown Q&A
Prospect Profile and Scouting Report
Pre-Draft Q&A
ANALYSIS: Thompson is a very physical high school arm with plenty of remaining projection. He can work in the low-90s and touch 94 mph with his fastball and will show an occasional plus slider. He has mid-rotation projection but could take a while to develop. He committed to TCU, but is viewed as a very signable selection.
STATUS: SIGNED. $531,800 Bonus

TigsTown Q&A
Prospect Profile and Scouting Report
ANALYSIS: Schotts is a very good runner that earns 70-grades from scouts, and that speed should help him transition to center field. His arm is a fringe-average but playable tool. He has an advanced feel for hitting for his age and some scouts believe he could develop good gap power and occasional home run power down the line. Schotts has a strong commitment to Oklahoma State, but the Tigers are confident they’ll be able to sign him.
STATUS: SIGNED. Bonus: $389,100
 | Height: 6-6 Weight: 225 Hometown: Rockwall, TX | Position: P Bats: R Throws: R | |
Prospect Profile and Scouting Report
ANALYSIS: Verhagen is a Tommy John surgery survivor and scouts remain concerned about his durability because of questionable arm action. He can get his fastball into the mid-90s and came on strong late in the college season. Both of his secondary pitches -- curveball and change-up -- need some work for him to reach his potential.

 | Height: 6-0 Weight: 200 Hometown: Winter Haven, FL | Position: P Bats: L Throws: L | |
ANALYSIS: Rogers is an interesting college lefty that has worked primarily in relief, but scouts believe he should be given a chance to start. He has an average fastball, potential plus curveball and shows feel for a change-up at times. If he starts, he could be a back-end starter.
STATUS: SIGNED. Bonus: $211,900
 | Height: Weight: Hometown: Corpus Christi, TX | Position: P Bats: L Throws: L | |
ANALYSIS: John is a classic command and control lefty that fills up the strike zone with four pitches. None of them will blow anyone away, but his 86-90 mph fastball and solid slider, curveball and change-up can keep hitters off balance and help him work through the lineup multiple times. He has potential as a back-end starter.
STATUS: SIGNED
 | Height: 6-3 Weight: 185 Hometown: Atlanta, GA | Position: SP Bats: R Throws: R | |
ANALYSIS: Hudson Randall is the classic control pitcher that is more likely to see his fastball sit below 90 than it is above 90. He does however have a good sinker and outstanding location with it. A three year starter for the Gators, the last two years with an ERA under three, he likely has little left to prove in college ball.
STATUS: Unsigned
 | Height: 6-2 Weight: 210 Hometown: Houston, TX | Position: OF Bats: R Throws: R | |
ANALYSIS: McVaney looks the part of a prototypical corner outfielder, an imposing figure that packs pop in his bat and has some athleticism, but can struggle with pitch recognition. The combination of power and athleticism make McVaney an intriguing prospect, and as a senior at Texas State, he’ll be looking to sign.
STATUS: SIGNED
 | Height: 6-2 Weight: 205 Hometown: Fort Collins, CO | Position: OF Bats: R Throws: R | |
TigsTown Q&A
ANALYSIS: Stewart, a junior outfielder at Stanford, has an excellent combination of size and speed, combining to produce an excellent defender that can track down fly balls deep in the gaps and the arm strength to force runners to think twice. His bat is still under-developed though and will take time.
STATUS: Unsigned
 | Height: 6-2 Weight: 200 Hometown: Castaic, CA | Position: P Bats: R Throws: R | |
ANALYSIS: Gillies, taken from the NAIA school The Master’s College, has an excellent sinker that goes with average velocity on his fastball. A relative unknown, Gillies could be viewed by the organization as a developmental project.
STATUS: SIGNED
 | Height: 6-2 Weight: 195 Hometown: Eaton, CO | Position: C Bats: R Throws: R | |
ANALYSIS: The first catching prospect of the 2012 draft for the Tigers, Pickar follows the mold of some of the other catching prospects drafted by the Tigers in being an all-around outstanding defender; can catch, block and throw very well. However, the same can’t be said for his offense as he has a long swing that leaves him prone to extended struggles at the plate.
STATUS: SIGNED
 | Height: 6-2 Weight: 185 Hometown: Tucson, AZ | Position: P Bats: R Throws: R | |
ANALYSIS: A right-hander on the smaller side, Feliz still packs plus arm speed with a fastball that can reach 95mph. He’s likely another project arm that will need to develop control along with his secondary pitches, but could pay off down the road.
STATUS: SIGNED
 | Height: 5-9 Weight: 185 Hometown: Wellington, FL | Position: 2B Bats: R Throws: R | |
ANALYSIS: Travis fits the mold of the little second baseman that can hit. He has a compact swing with good bat speed. For his size, the ball jumps off his bat and he has enough strength to get the ball into the gaps on occasion. He is a quality defender with good range at second base. While nothing truly stands out, he does a little bit of everything and could move quickly through the lower levels.
STATUS: Unsigned
 | Height: 6-8 Weight: 270 Hometown: Jacksonville, FL | Position: P Bats: R Throws: R | |
ANALYSIS: Huge right-hander that fits in as a late inning reliever, has an average fastball right now, but with his size and frame, the possibility remains that he could see an uptick in that.
STATUS: Unsigned
 | Height: 5-10 Weight: 170 Hometown: Midland, MI | Position: SS Bats: R Throws: R | |
ANALYSIS: Dean comes into as a smaller middle infielder that can control his bat well and hit to all fields but doesn’t have much power. He’s solid with the glove and with his arm and can make all the throws from shortstop or second base. Often receives praise for his hard-work and grinder mentality.
