Chris Bootcheck allowed two unearned runs in the bottom of the ninth to blow a save and pick up the loss. Toledo led 7-4 entering the bottom of the eighth.Brooks Brown gave up four runs (three earned) over 3 1/3 innings in the start. At the plate, Matt Young went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Ryan Strieby went 2-for-5 with a solo home run.

Kelvin De La Cruz couldn’t even make it out of the first inning, giving up six earned runs while recording just two outs in the frame. Jared Gayhart allowed three earned runs over 4 1/3 innings of relief. Michael Rockett hit a pinch-hit solo home run, while Jordan Lennerton went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Hernan Perez went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Lakeland offense. Brian Stroud pitched five scoreless innings in the start to pick up his first win. Stroud allowed two hits, but walked four. Tyler Collins went 3-for-5 with a double.

Zach Maggard went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and two runs scored. Thomas Collier allowed three earned runs over five innings and picked up the win. Chad Wright went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Daniel Bennett pitched a perfect ninth for the save.

Jake Stewart went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored, while Smith went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and the one run scored.
