West Michigan was the lone winner on the farm Wednesday, topping Fort Wayne in an offensive shootout led by the team's top prospect, Austin Schotts. Lakeland was involved in a shootout of its own, but ended up on the wrong end against Brevard County. Toledo suffered a sweep against Indianapolis while Erie's game was suspended due to rain.

AAA Toledo Mud Hens
1-6, 4th in West Division

Jordan Lennerton and Danny Dorn went deep for the Mud Hens but Toledo was unable to generate much else offensively, falling to Indianapolis in a 7-2 final despite tallying as many hits as Indianapolis. Starting pitcher Pat Misch earned his second loss of the season, going 3 1/3 innings while allowing seven runs, four of which were earned. Kenny Faulk went 1 2/3 innings in relief and notched four strikeouts.

3-3, 2nd in Eastern Division

Play was suspended in the top of the fourth inning due to rain. Completion of the game is scheduled to take place on August 9.

High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
2-4, 6th in North Division

Lakeland found itself on the wrong end of a shootout Wednesday night, falling to Brevard County in a 7-6 final. Starting pitcher Thomas Collier took a no decision in his start, giving up five earned runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings of work. Will Clinard took his first loss of the season, going two innings while giving up two earned runs. Eugenio Suarez led the Flying Tigers offensively, going 2-for-4 while driving in two runs. Brandon Loy also drove in two runs on a 1-for-3 night at the plate.

Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
4-2, 2nd in Eastern Division

The weather may have been chilly on Wednesday but West Michigan’s bats were red hot as the Whitecaps topped Fort Wayne 9-7. Austin Schotts led the ‘Caps offensively, driving in two runs to help West Michigan earn its fourth win of the season. Mike Hernandez also drove in two runs for West Michigan out of the designated hitter spot. Starting pitcher Endrys Briceno earned a no decision, surrendering three earned runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings. Reliever Josh Turley earned his second win of the season, while Jose Valdez tallied his first save of the year.
