Beckham Out Six-To-Eight Weeks

Beckham was injured on Tuesday night.

The Chicago White Sox will be without second baseman Gordon Beckham for more than a month after Beckham fractured his hamate bone in his left wrist.

The Chicago White Sox announced the injury on Thursday. If he requires surgery, Beckham will more than likely miss six-to-eight weeks.

Beckham injured the wrist on a swing during the White Sox's game on Tuesday. The former Georgia star was off to a slow start to the 2013 season. In seven games, he had nine hits in 16 at-bats, none of which had gone for extra bases.

Beckham was the eighth overall pick in the 2008 draft, and he made his debut with the White Sox in 2009. Since then, he has been a regular in the Sox's line-up, playing in at least 131 major league games from 2010 through 2012. Beckham had an 808 OPS as a rookie in 2009, but he hasn't managed an OBP above 700 since. He did hit a career-high 16 homers last season.

As of early Thursday evening, the White Sox had yet to announce who would take Beckham's place on the active roster.
