Erie was the lone victor on the farm on Thursday, led by a strong night offensively by Luis Castillo against Harrisburg. Toledo held the lead in the middle innings but fell to Gwinnett while Lakeland couldn't muster much up offensively against Fort Myers. West Michigan gave up a lead while the VSL Tigers fell on the road.

Toledo surrendered a 5-2 lead against Gwinnett on Thursday after allowing a four-run sixth inning as the Mud Hens fell to Braves 7-5. Starting pitcher Ramon Garcia struggled on his way to a no decision, allowing five earned runs on eight hits in 5 ? innings. Al Alburquerque earned the loss in his first relief appearance with Toledo of the season after giving up a home run. Bryan Holaday had a solid night at the plate out of the designated hitter spot, going 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs driven in in the loss.

Erie gave up two runs in the ninth inning but held on to the lead, topping Harrisburg 8-6 on Thursday. Kyle Lobstein earned a no decision in the shortened start, shutting out the Senators on two hits over two innings. Blaine Hardy earned his second win of the season in relief and Justin Souza earned his tenth save of the year. Luis Castillo had a strong night at the plate, going 2-for-3 while driving in three runs in the win.

High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
17-29, 6th in North Division

Lakeland scored one run in the sixth inning but was otherwise held in tact offensively by Fort Myers on Thursday as the Flying Tigers fell to the Miracle 6-1. Starting pitcher Hudson Randall saw his record drop to 0-4 in the loss after allowing four earned runs on 10 hits over six innings. Steven Moya was the lone hitter to drive in a run for Lakeland on a 1-for-4 night at the plate.

Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
20-24, 4th in Eastern Division

West Michigan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in Thursday’s matchup against Dayton but couldn’t hang on late in the ballgame as the Whitecaps fell to the Dragons 7-6. Starting pitcher Charlie Gillies earned a no decision in start, allowing two earned runs on three hits over five innings on the mound. Guido Knudson earned his first loss of the season in relief. Mario Martinez and Zach Kirksey each had solo home runs in the loss.

The VSL Tigers and Mariners held a 4-4 tie after two innings before the Mariners scored six runs over the next three, topping the Tigers 10-6. Starting pitcher Esmeiro Del Valle earned a no decision in the loss, giving up two earned runs despite not giving up a hit and only pitching to four batters. Del Valle walked all four of the batters he faced. Victor Guillen earned the loss in relief. Arvicent Perez led the Tigers offensively, going 1-for-2 while driving in two runs in the loss.
