Current Team: Florida
Position: SP
Bats: R

Prospect Profile: Jonathon Crawford

Kiley McDaniel Analysis on Jonathon Crawford

ANALYSIS: A hard throwing right-hander, Crawford had a disappointing Junior season, but still flashed the stuff to warrant making him a first round pick. The questions on Crawford will be if he can harness control of his upper-90's fastball while developing consistency with his slider and improving his change-up.

Round
1-A
Detroit Tigers
Corey Knebel
Player: Corey Knebel
Height: 6-3
Weight: 195
Hometown: Georgetown, TX
Current Team: Texas
Position: P
Bats: R
Throws: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $1,433,400

Prospect Profile: Corey Knebel

ANALYSIS: The third Longhorns reliever drafted by the Tigers in the last five years, Knebel is known more for his off-the-field antics, which featured two suspensions this season, than his on-the-field performance. Makeup concerns aside, Knebel has a power fastball that can reach the upper 90's and a slider that could make him a potential fast riser in the organization, if he keeps his head on straight.

Round
2
Detroit Tigers
Kevin Ziomek (VM-Don Yates)
Player: Kevin Ziomek
Height: 6-3
Weight: 190
Hometown: Amherst, MA
Current Team: Vanderbilt
Position: P
Bats: R
Throws: L

SIGNED - BONUS: $956,000

Prospect Profile: Kevin Ziomek

ANALYSIS: A solid left-hander with a good three pitch mix, Ziomek fits the Tigers mold at this stage with a big, projectable frame, college experience from a school they've scouted heavily in the past.

Round
3
Detroit Tigers
Jeff Thompson
Height: 6-6
Weight: 248
Hometown: Greenville, IN
Current Team: Louisville
Position: P
Bats: R
Throws: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $549,400

ANALYSIS: A huge right-hander, Thompson was dominating at times for the Cardinal this season. Another solid three pitch guy, Thompson will have his fastball in the low 90's.

Round
4
Detroit Tigers
Austin Kubitza
Height: 6-5
Weight: 220
Hometown: Colleyville, TX
Current Team: Rice
Position: P
Bats: L
Throws: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $401,200

Scouting Video on Austin Kubitza

ANALYSIS: Kubitza's calling card is a devastating slider, one that consistently got swings-and-misses throughout college and is already a plus big league pitch. The challenge for Kubitza will be to bring along command of his fastball that only hits 90 MPH.

Round
5
Detroit Tigers
Buck Farmer
Player: Buck Farmer
Height: 6-4
Weight: 218
Hometown: Conyers, GA
Current Team: Georgia Tech
Position: P
Bats: L
Throws: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $225,000

ANALYSIS: A relatively average repertoire, but a hard worker and competitor that is likely to get the most out of his ability. Has four average pitches with fastball velocity that reaches the low 90's.

Round
6
Detroit Tigers
Calvin Drummond
Height: 6-3
Weight: 200
Hometown: Huntington Beach, CA
Current Team: Arizona Christian
Position: P
Bats: R
Throws: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $60,000

Q&A: Calvin Drummond

ANALYSIS: Another pitcher that has made more waves off the mound than on it, Drummond has attended four schools in five years, and didn't pitch in 2013 for Arizona Christian due to his transfer from San Diego. That being said, he has a power fastball in the mid-90's and lots of potential with his breaking stuff.

Round
7
Detroit Tigers
Height: 6-3
Weight: 215
Hometown: Houston, TX
Current Team: Vanderbilt
Position: OF
Bats: R
Throws: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $55,000

ANALYSIS: The first position player of the draft, and also a teammate of 2nd rounder Kevin Ziomek, Harrell has flashed impressive tools but been light on production in his years at Vandy. The Tigers also selected him last year, but he elected to return to school, which resulted in a 24 round bump.

Round
8
Detroit Tigers
Zach Reininger
Height: 6-3
Weight: 170
Hometown: Spring Branch, TX
Current Team: Hill JC (TX)
Position: P
Bats: R
Throws: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $153,000

ANALYSIS: A player all about projection, had a recent growth spurt that helped boost a few MPH on his fastball up to the low 90's. A project that will need extensive development time.

Round
9
Detroit Tigers
Will LaMarche
Height: 6-3
Weight: 220
Hometown: Pleasanton, CA
Current Team: LSU
Position: P
Bats: R
Throws: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $150,000

ANALYSIS: Many of the Tigers picks are starters that could end up in the bullpen, but LaMarche is a reliever all the way. Couples a high 90's fastball with a breaking pitch with good potential.

Round
10
Detroit Tigers
Kasey Coffman
Height: 6-3
Weight: 201
Hometown: Phoenix, AZ
Current Team: Arizona State
Position: OF
Bats: L
Throws: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $135,000

ANALYSIS: Coffman has a lot of intangibles to go with being a good athlete with lots of gap power - between his defense and work ethic, fits the mold of a fourth outfielder.

Rd 11: RHP Chad Green
Team: Louisville | Bat: L | Throw: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $100,000

ANALYSIS: Low 90's fastball in a big frame, can reach 94. Secondary pitches need work.

Rd 12: 3B Dominic Ficociello
Team: Arkansas | Bat: B | Throw: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $100,000

ANALYSIS: A former 2010 draftee, has had an up and down college career without an established position or role and inconsistent production at the plate. Still has bat speed that projects for power.

Rd 13: C Austin Green
Team: San Diego | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS:

Rd 14: OF Ben Verlander
Team: Old Dominion | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS: Not just Justin's brother, an actual prospect. Hit well for ODU, long, lanky athlete that's still filling out.

Rd 15: OF Raphael Rhymes
Team: LSU | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS: A potential defensive liability, makes lots of contact and has gap power.

Rd 16: C Duncan McAlpine
Team: Dallas Baptist | Bat: L | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS: Has pop in his bat, but is a work in progress behind the plate.

Rd 17: SS Steven Negron
Team: Miami Dade CC South | Bat: B | Throw: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $100,000

ANALYSIS: A potential utility infielder, on the small side but a good athlete and can move around the infield. Can make contact, can't drive the ball much.

Rd 18: RHP Jonathan Maciel
Team: Cal State - Long Beach | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS: Very good two seam fastball in the low 90's, along with three other average pitches.

Rd 19: RHP Austin Pritcher
Team: The Citadel | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS:

Rd 20: RHP Matt Wotherspoon
Team: Pitt | Bat: R | Throw: R

UNSIGNED

ANALYSIS: A reliable innings eater, Wotherspoon has a low 90's fastball that he can control along with a good secondary curve.

Rd 21: SS Curt Powell
Team: Georgia | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS: Should be a good infield defender at either third base or shortstop, hard work.

Rd 22: RHP Daryl Norris
Team: Mississippi State | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS: A project, can dial up fastball velocity, but has minimal pitching experience and needs to learn how to pitch.

Rd 23: LHP Tyler Alexander
Team: Carroll HS (TX) | Bat: R | Throw: L

UNSIGNED

ANALYSIS: A very tough sign with a strong TCU commitment, a projectable left-hander with a good mix of pitches highlighted by a low 90's fastball.

Rd 24: RHP Chase Edwards
Team: Hill JC (TX) | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED - BONUS: $130,000

ANALYSIS:

Rd 25: RHP Johnnie Kirkland
Team: Southeastern U | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS: A Lakeland-area product (there's almost always one), mixes three pitches, brings competitive attitude.

Rd 26: CF Adrian Castano
Team: Benjamin Cardoza HS (NY) | Bat: L | Throw: L

SIGNED

ANALYSIS: Committed to Lamar as a CF and LHP, projects well in center as a long athlete that could hit.

Rd 27: LHP Joe Mantiply
Team: Virginia Tech | Bat: R | Throw: L

SIGNED

ANALYSIS: Average, traditional repertoire (fastball, curveball, change-up) with good size.

Rd 28: RHP Scott Sitz
Team: Florida State | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS: On the short side so lacks typical projection of Tigers draft picks, mostly fringe average stuff.

Rd 29: RHP Charley Sullivan
Team: Alabama | Bat: R | Throw: R

UNSIGNED

ANALYSIS: Attacks the zone with an average repertoire, including a fastball that gets up to 91-92 MPH.

Rd 30: LHP Ryan Beck
Team: New Mexico State | Bat: R | Throw: L

SIGNED

ANALYSIS:

Rd 31: RHP Brett Huber
Team: Ole Miss | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS: A big frame with average stuff, should be a very good innings eater.

Rd 32: RHP Tanner Bailey
Team: Ole Miss | Bat: R | Throw: R

SIGNED

ANALYSIS:

Rd 33: 2B John Armstrong
Team: Bishop Carroll HS (KS) | Bat: R | Throw: R

UNSIGNED

ANALYSIS:

Rd 34: 2B Brad Holland
Team: Mesquite HS (AZ) | Bat: R | Throw: R

UNSIGNED

ANALYSIS:

Rd 35: LHP A.J. Puk
Team: Washington HS (IA) | Bat: L | Throw: L

UNSIGNED

ANALYSIS: Holds a strong commitment to Florida, but is a left-hander that can reach 93 MPH on the radar gun, making him a rare commodity.

Rd 36: CF Torii Hunter Jr.
Team: Prosper HS (TX) | Bat: R | Throw: R

UNSIGNED

ANALYSIS: Son of OF Torii Hunter, will head to Notre Dame in the fall on a football scholarship.

Rd 37: LHP Nicholas Deeg
Team: Lake Orion HS (MI) | Bat: L | Throw: L

UNSIGNED

ANALYSIS:

Rd 38: C Harrison Wenson
Team: U Detroit Jesuit (MI) | Bat: R | Throw: R

ANALYSIS: University of Michigan commit and another unlikely sign.

Rd 39: CF Anfernee Grier
Team: Russell County HS (AL) | Bat: R | Throw: R
