AAA Toledo Mud Hens

Toledo needed a strong offensive performance in Friday's game against Syracuse after blowing a four-run lead early, scoring three runs in the final two innings to top the Chiefs 7-6. Starting pitcher Jose Alvarez struggled in his first outing since returning from a start with the Detroit Tigers, allowing five earned runs on seven hits over 6 ? innings while striking out eight and earning the no decision. Brayan Villarreal earned his first win of the season after pitching one inning of shutout baseball in relief while Bruce Rondon earned his twelfth save of the season. Danny Dorn led the Mud Hens offensively out of the designated hitter spot, going 3-for-4 with a double and two runs driven in. Ramon Cabrera and Argenis Diaz also drove in two runs in the win.
AA Erie Seawolves
35-30, 1st in Western Division
Erie opened up a narrow lead with two runs in the eighth inning of Friday's game against Portland as the SeaWolves topped the Fisher Cats 6-3. Starting pitcher Victor Larez earned a no decision after allowing two earned runs on four hits over four innings. Will Startup improved his record to 2-1 after earning the win in relief while Justin Souza earned his thirteenth save of the season. Jamie Johnson led the way for Erie out of the leadoff spot, going 2-for-3 with a double and two runs driven in for the SeaWolves.
High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
30-35, 5th in North Division
Lakeland did not play on Friday.
Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
32-35, 4th in Eastern Division
West Michigan trailed Fort Wayne 1-0 late in Friday's game before the Whitecaps scored two runs in the eighth inning, topping the TinCaps 2-1. Charlie Gillies earned a no decision in the start, allowing one earned run on three hits over six innings while striking out seven. Chad Smith improved his record to 1-3 after earning the win in relief while Jose Valdez earned his fifteenth save of the season. Lance Durham was the difference maker in Friday's game, hitting what would eventually be the game-winning two-run home run in the eighth inning on a 1-for-4 night at the plate.
R VSL Tigers
12-15, 4th in Venezuelan Summer League
The VSL Tigers rode a title wave of offense in Friday's game, topping the Rays 13-6. Angel Vasquez earned a no decision in a rough start on the mound, allowing five earned runs on seven hits in two innings. Eudis Idrogo improved his record to 3-1 after earning the win in relief. The Tigers spread the scoring in the win with eight different players driving in runs. Eliezer Castillo led the way offensively, going 3-for-5 while driving in two runs for the Tigers.
R DSL Tigers
10-2, 1st in Dominican Summer League San Pedro de Macoris
The DSL Tigers continue to be on a tear early in the Dominican Summer League season, putting up all five runs in the final three innings to top the Brewers 5-3. Starting pitcher Carlos Lara earned a no decision after allowing two earned runs on five hits over five innings. Rusbell Cabrera improved his record to 2-0 after earning the win in relief while Pedro Aybar earned his sixth save of the season. Domingo Leyba led the charge offensively out of the leadoff spot, going 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in the win.
