AAA Toledo Mud Hens
29-41, 4th in West Division
Toledo scored two runs in the fifth inning of Saturday's game against Syracuse and needed no other offense, riding a strong pitching performance to a 2-1 win over the Chiefs. Starting pitcher Shawn Hill earned his first win of the season, allowing one earned run on four hits over seven innings. Al Alburquerque earned his first save of the season with the win. Avisail Garcia made his presence felt at the plate in his return to the Mud Hens, going 2-for-4 with an RBI out of the leadoff spot. Brandon Douglas also drove in a run in the win.
AA Erie Seawolves
36-30, 1st in Western Division
Erie had one of the biggest nights offensively in the history of the team on Saturday, notching 24 hits against New Hampshire as the SeaWolves topped the Fisher Cats in a lopsided 16-2 final. Starting pitcher Kyle Lobstein improved his record to 6-4 with the win, allowing two earned runs on six hits over seven innings of work. James Robbins led the way offensively for the SeaWolves, going 4-for-6 with three doubles, a home run and four runs driven in in the win. Daniel Fields and James McCann also had home runs in the win.
High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
30-35, 5th in North Division
Lakeland did not play on Saturday.
Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
33-35, 4th in Eastern Division
West Michigan relied on dominant starting pitching in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against Fort Wayne as the Whitecaps shutout the TinCaps 5-0. Starting pitcher Yofrank Lopez improved his record to 7-3 with the win, shutting out the TinCaps over four innings. Danry Vasquez led the way for the Whitecaps offensively, notching a double and driving in two runs in the win.
Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
33-36, 4th in Eastern Division
West Michigan jumped out to a 4-1 lead after two innings of the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against Fort Wayne before the Whitecaps allowed six runs in the fourth inning, falling to the TinCaps 8-7. Julio Felix earned a no decision in the start, allowing two earned runs on three hits over three innings of work. Logan Elhers fell to 0-4 on the season after earning the loss in relief. Devon Travis led the way at the plate for the ‘Caps, going 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two runs driven in.
R VSL Tigers
12-16, 4th in Venezuelan Summer League
The VSL Tigers made an offensive charge in the middle innings of Saturday's game against the Cubs after falling behind by three runs but the comeback fell short as the Tigers fell 9-7. Starting pitcher Jose Fuentes fell to 0-4 on the season with the loss, allowing one earned run and four unearned runs on two hits in 1 ? innings. Jose Ovalles had a solo home run in the loss while Eliezer Castillo drove in two runs for the Tigers.
R DSL Tigers
11-2, 1st in Dominican Summer League San Pedro de Macoris
The DSL Tigers broke a 2-2 tie in Saturday's game against the Braves by scoring three runs in the eighth inning, topping the Braves 5-2. Starting pitcher Gregory Soto earned a no decision after shutting out the Braves on three hits over five innings. Jesus Guzman improved to 2-0 on the season after earning the win in relief. Manuel Joseph led the charge offensively for the Tigers, going 3-for-4 while driving in two runs in the win.
