Toledo went into extra innings on Monday, utilizing some timely offense in a walkoff win over Louisville. Jamie Johnson led the way offensively for Erie, driving in four runs in a win over Altoona. Lakeland lost both games of its doubleheader against Clearwater while Connecticut lost a late lead. The DSL, VSL and GCL Tigers all earned wins on Monday.

39-54, 4th in West Division

Toledo carried a 3-3 tie into extra innings in Monday’s series opener against Louisville before scoring a walk off run in the bottom of the tenth as the Mud Hens topped the Bats 4-3. Starting pitcher Jose Alvarez earned a no decision after allowing three earned runs on seven hits over eight innings. Jess Todd improved his record to 2-3 after earning the win in relief. Bryan Holaday had another strong game offensively for Toledo, going 2-for-4 with an RBI in the win.

Erie held a three-run lead in Monday’s game against Altoona but gave up three runs in the eighth inning before the SeaWolves scored the winning run in the top of the ninth, topping the Curve 7-6. Starting pitcher Matt Crouse took a no decision after allowing three earned runs on seven hits over 5 ? innings. Ryan Robowski took a blown save but also improved his record to 1-2 after earning the win in relief. Jamie Johnson played the role of hero for Erie out of the leadoff spot, going 1-for-4 and driving in four runs in the win.

Lakeland nearly completed a late comeback in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader against Clearwater but fell short as the Flying Tigers fell to the Threshers 5-3. Starting pitcher Kyle Ryan fell to 8-6 with the loss after allowing three earned runs on seven hits over four innings. Francisco Martinez led the offense for the Flying Tigers, going 2-for-3 with two runs driven in and a run scored.

Lakeland’s offense was stifled in the second game of Monday’s doubleheader against Clearwater as the Flying Tigers put up only three hits and were shutout by the Threshers 1-0. Joshua Carr fell to 0-3 after earning the loss in the start, allowing one unearned run on three hits over five innings. Francisco Martinez was the only Lakeland hitter to go for extra bases, going 1-for-3 with a double in the loss.

Connecticut held a late two-run lead going into the bottom of the eighth inning in Monday’s game against Staten Island before the Tigers allowed four runs in the final two innings, falling to the Yankees 7-6. Starting pitcher Joe Mantiply earned a no decision after allowing one earned run on four hits over three innings. Andrew Harrison fell to 1-1 on the season after earning the loss in relief. Duncan McAlpine gave the Tigers a boost at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

The DSL Tigers rode a strong pitching performance to a win in Monday’s rain-shortened game against the Braves, topping the Braves 3-0. Starting pitcher Sandy Baez improved his record to 5-1 with the win, shutting out the Braves on two hits over five innings. Domingo Leyba and Victor Ovalles both drove in runs on sacrifice flies.

The GCL Tigers nearly blew a seven-run lead in Monday’s game against the Yankees but held on, topping the Yankees 7-5. Starting pitcher David Paulino improved his record to 2-0 with the win, shutting out the Yankees on three hits over six innings. Ricardo Ciraco earned his fifth save of the season in the win. Javier Betancourt gave the Tigers momentum at the plate, going 1-for-4 with a double and two runs driven in.

The VSL Tigers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in Monday’s game against the Phillies and didn’t let up, topping the Phillies 5-2. Starting pitcher Eduardo Jimenez improved his record to 3-1 with the win, allowing one earned run on four hits over five innings. Johan Belisario earned his eighth save of the season in the win. Arvicent Perez led the way offensively for the Tigers, going 1-for-4 with two runs driven in in the win.
