Some clubs battled Mother Nature, others battled opponents, while other clubs just battled extra innings. In any case, only Lakeland was able to pull out a victory, and they needed extra innings to make it happen. For the lone win, Jeff Frazier led the way with an RBI and then a run scored, which proved to be the game winner.

AA Erie SeaWolves - AKRON 4, ERIE 3
12-21, 6th in Southern division
A late comeback by the SeaWolves didn't prove to be enough on Wednesday, losing to Akron 4-3. Starter Virgil Vasquez spread out 11 hits in six innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out five batters. Vasquez got two strikes on the first batter of the seventh inning before leaving the game for unspecified health reasons. Left fielder Jackson Melian, in his first game with Erie, went three for four with a triple, a home run, and all three of the team's RBIs. Melian had a chance to get the cycle and win the game with two men on and two outs in the ninth, but hit a game-ending ground-out to the second baseman. The SeaWolves have Thursday off, their next game being in Reading on Friday night, at 7:05pm.

HiA Lakeland Tigers - LAKELAND 4, VERO BCH. 3
17-16, t-3rd in West division
Lakeland wins it's second extra inning game in as many nights 4-3 over Vero Beach. Kevin Ardoin started and pitched great, going 7 innings and only allowing 1 run, but got the no decision. Eddie Bodine got the win by pitching the 13th. Wilkin Ramirez led off the 7th inning with his second home run of the season. In the 13th, Jeff Frazier doubled in Gilberto Mejia and then Andrew Graham drove Frazier in for the game-winning run on a single. The L-Tigers play at Vero Beach on Thursday night at 7:00pm.

A West Mich. Whitecaps - W. MICH. 8, BELOIT 5
21-11, 1st in Eastern division

The Whitecaps lost a heart-breaker in sixteen innings to the Snappers 2-0, on an evening dominated by pitching. There were goose-eggs on the scoreboard until the top of the sixteenth when Beloit took the lead. The most dominating performance on the night came from Beloit starter Brian Duensing (1-1), who pitched nine innings while scattering five hits and striking out six 'Caps. 'Caps starter Ramon Garcia (5-1) was sharp through five innings - scattering four hits while striking out four - being driven out due to the patient approach of Beloit's hitters. Both Matt Rusch and Ricky Steik pitched three innings of shut out relief, and Orlando Perdomo pitched a scoreless inning. Jake Baxter (0-2) took the tough loss, lasting three and two-thirds innings, on back-to-back walks and a double in the sixteenth. The 'Caps hitters were baffled all night, mustering only eight hits in sixteen innings, leaving ten on base, and were held without a runner past second-base. Both Will Rhymes and Mike Holliman had doubles, their only hits on the evening, but were left stranded on base. The two were also involved in a spectacular double-play, as Rhymes took a sharp grounder behind the bag at second and flipped it from his glove to Holliman, who caught it with his bare hand and then relayed it to first in time to finish the play. The 'Caps face the Snappers again the 11th as Erik Averill (1-2) and the 'Caps face Ryan Mullins (1-0).
