AAA Toledo Mud Hens – ROCHESTER 9, TOLEDO 6

Kevin Hooper went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI, but it was not enough to hold off a late inning Rochester surge. The Mud Hens dropped the contest 9-6 Sunday at Fifth Third Field after allowing two runs in the eighth inning and six runs in the ninth inning. Chris Shelton went 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI and Brent Clevlen and Dane Sardinha each recorded two hits. Starter Dennis Tankersley allowed only three earned runs in seven and two thirds innings after surrendering seven hits against for strikeouts. Reliever Jason Karnuth was credited with the loss after blowing the save in the ninth inning. The two teams will play once more at 6:30 p.m. Monday with Yorman Bazardo (1-1, 4.50 E.R.A.) taking the mound for the Mud Hens.

AA Erie SeaWolves – BOWIE 2, ERIE 1
10-10, 4th in Southern division
Bowie edged Erie on Sunday afternoon to drop the SeaWolves back down to .500 with a 2-1 defeat. Jon Connolly got a no decision for his work as the starter, giving up a run over five innings of work. The loss was credited to Kevin Ardoin, who gave up a walk off single in the ninth that scored the winning run for the Baysox. The ‘Wolves managed just three hits, with Andres Torres driving in Clete Thomas for the team’s only run. Erie has the 30th off before returning to action on Tuesday at home vs. Reading at 6:35pm.

A+ Lakeland Flying Tigers – LAKELAND 8, SARASOTA 7
10-13, t-3rd in West division
Reliever Gabriel Benitez picked up his first victory of the season as the Lakeland Flying Tigers topped the Sarasota Reds Sunday afternoon 8-7. Luke French started the game for Lakeland, pitching five innings while allowing four runs. He was then replaced by Zachary Piccola who pitched 1 and 2/3 innings and surrendered two runs. Benitez took over at this point, until Freddy Dolsi registered his third save of the season in the 9th after giving up a solo home run to hot prospect Jay Bruce. On the offensive side, Mark Haske tripled to bat 1-for-2 with three RBIs. Cameron Maybin and Justin Justice each registered two RBIs, while Ryan Roberson also managed to hit for an RBI. Lakeland will continue their series with Sarasota at Joker Marchant Stadium Monday night at 7:00 PM. Eleazar Aponte will most likely make the start for Lakeland, while Sarasota’s starting pitcher has yet to be announced.

A West Mich. Whitecaps – PEORIA 4, W. MICH. 0
10-11, 4th in Eastern division
The Whitecaps had nine hits Sunday but could muster no runs as they lost to Peoria 4-0, dropping the final three games of the four-game series. West Michigan stranded 11 runners on base as they had at least one on in every inning but the sixth. Once again they could not get hits when needed most and were shut out for the second time in three games, losing Friday's contest 1-0. Lauren Gagnier (1-3, 5.11 ERA) received his third loss of the season, giving up four earned runs on eight hits and three walks in six innings. James Skelton had three hits and Deik Scram had two hits. The Whitecaps start a four game series in Kane County on Monday with a 7:30 p.m. game time.
