Cameron Maybin will return to the game for the second straight year. After wow’ing scouts last year with his pure ability, Maybin will look to do more of the same as he continues to be regarded as arguably the best outfield prospect in all of baseball.
Maybin is currently ranked 11th overall by Scout.com (the third highest ranked outfielder) and 1st overall in the Tigers’ system by TigsTown.com. The 20-year old outfielder is currently hitting .313 with seven home runs, 33 RBI and 22 stolen bases for the class-A Lakeland Flying Tigers.
Meanwhile, Goryks Hernandez doesn’t yet have the name of Cameron Maybin, but has all the tools to eventually garner the same recognition. Hernandez is just 19 years of age and in his first year of full season baseball, but is making noise already. Hernandez is currently ranked 9th by TigsTown.com (and soon to move up) and is the 53rd ranked outfielder by Scout.com.
So far this season, Hernandez is hitting .300, and has swiped 28 bases, being caught just six times as class-A West Michigan’s leadoff hitter and centerfielder. While not as developed as Maybin, Hernandez is thought to have the tools that could make him an elite prospect one day soon.
