Dolsi to Make Big League Debut

After placing Denny Bautista on the 15-day disabled list due to shoulder tendinitis, the Tigers needed a bullpen replacement, and reached down to double-A Erie for that man, calling up righty Freddy Dolsi to make his big league debut.

After struggling on Friday night in Minnesota, the Tigers decided that Denny Bautista's sore shoulder required some rest, and even if that meant only a week or so, that meant a trip to the disabled list for Bautista.

In turn, the Tigers needed a replacement. While there were options at triple-A Toledo, the Tigers elected to reach down to double-A Erie and snag Freddy Dolsi, who had caught the eye of manager Jim Leyland in spring training.

Dolsi has already appeared for Erie and high-A Lakeland this season, struggling a bit in Lakeland, but having three shutout appearances for the 'Wolves. So far, Dolsi is 0-1 with a 4.35 ERA and seven saves.

Dolsi did not make it to Minnesota on Saturday, but is expected to be in uniform and available on Sunday afternoon for the Tigers' series finale with the Twins.
