On Friday, the Tigers placed both Ramon Santiago and Clete Thomas on the disabled list, and also placed Aquilino Lopez on the bereavement list. To replace them, the Tigers have called up Brent Clevlen, added Denny Bautista to the roster from his disabled list stint, and promoted infielder Mike Hollimon.

It's a day of moves for the Tigers. In addition to the moves being made in replenishing the Tigers farm system through the MLB Draft, the Tigers made quite a few moves at the big league level.

Ramon Santiago's separated shoulder has forced him to the disabled list, as expected.

The surprise of the group is Clete Thomas, who sprained his ankle when he pinch ran on Tuesday night. The extent of the injury is not yet known, but it appeared to be serious enough where the Tigers felt they couldn't wait to replace his bat.

Finally, Aquilino Lopez was placed on the bereavement list - details are still pending on this move.

Denny Bautista was activated from the disabled list after going on the DL with a sore right shoulder. He last pitched on May 3rd with Detroit. In five rehab appearances, Bautista didn't allow a run, striking out seven and walking three.

Brent Clevlen takes the outfield slot opened up by Thomas. Clevlen, who debuted for the Tigers in 2006, struggled in 2007 and appeared to have been passed in the Tigers' eyes by a number of others in the higher levels of the minors. But a recent tear has Clevlen back in the good graces of the Tigers' brass; he currently has a .324/.417/.620 line. And in his last ten games, he's hitting .427 with six home runs and 19 RBI.

Finally, the biggest news of the day is the promotion of top prospect Mike Hollimon to Detroit. Hollimon, who will be used in a reserve role for the time being, was hitting .250 with an .863 OPS at the time of the call-up. Hollimon missed the first month of the season with a separated shoulder.

With the promotions of Clevlen and Hollimon, now five of the original eight projected starters at Toledo have made their way to the big leagues. In addition to Clevlen and Hollimon, Thomas and Matt Joyce have made appearances in Detroit, and Jeff Larish was called up last week.
