The Tigers came to terms with first rounder Ryan Perry and now Perry will get ready to start his big league career with High-A Lakeland.
Perry, who received a reported $1.48 million to sign, will begin in Lakeland, however, the Tigers are hopeful he can move quickly and make his way to Detroit by this September.
Perry's rise up the ladder will likely be determined based on how well Perry does against the Florida State League competition he will see initially.
Perry worked both as a starter and a reliever for the University of Arizona, and while it is believed the Tigers still plan to make him a starting pitcher, with the immediate need the team has for relief help, they are looking at Perry as a possible alternative.
