Game Notes: Audy Ciriaco may have worked out a bit at third this fall (more on this next week), but he’s still go elite range at shortstop; ranging deep behind the bag at second, diving, and throwing a guy out from his knees….Even Cale Iorg’s outs are loud; scorching a liner to right in his second at-bat, and killing a ball deep to left-center that would have been a home run in any park that isn’t 390-feet in the power alley….Bryan Pounds made an excellent play cutting in front of Brent Dlugach on a grounder and throwing on the run….Speaking of Dlugach, he’s still got a tender arm, and it showed in today’s game….Billy Nowlin is country strong; and I’ll elaborate on this in my full report on him next week….Gustavo Nunez continues to impress with some nice glove work and a pesky approach at the plate….Brett Jacobson looks every bit the part of a first round pick, which is exactly what he was supposed to be heading into the spring; bringing mid-90s gas, a nice curve, and a good change….Keep an eye on Victor Larez, he’s got a raw arm with some easy velocity, an idea of how to pitch, and plenty of projection….Houston’s Max Sapp just doesn’t look like a guy that’s destined to stay behind the plate long term; the arm is there, but not the mechanics and receiving ability….Speaking of catchers, Houston’s other catcher Federico Hernandez, has an absolute cannon for an arm. Teams won’t be running on him….More to come tomorrow….
