Tigers Acquire Huff for Jacobson

The Tigers on Monday announced they have acquired Aubrey Huff in exchange for minor league pitcher Brett Jacobson.

Aubrey Huff was hitting .253 with 13 home runs and 72 RBI in 110 games for the Orioles so far this season. He also ripped 24 doubles while posting a .253/.321/.405 triple slash line.

Huff has been labeled as an infielder/outfielder by the Tigers, but has primarily played first base for the Orioles this season. He also has experience playing third base, and has played in the outfield as well in past seasons.

Huff has a career .284 average, and posted an OPS of .912 in 2008.

Brett Jacobson has spent the season with High-A Lakeland, where he's gone 1-3 with a 3.74 ERA in 35 games. He also has six saves in 55 1/3 innings of work with 44 strikeouts and 17 walks.

In 2008, after signing, Jacobson posted a 1.53 ERA for West Michigan as he was a big help to the Whitecaps down the stretch.

Jacobson was ranked 14th in the Tigers' organization in the most recent TigsTown Top 50 Rankings.

No corresponding move for the Tigers on the 25-man roster has been announced yet, but the Tigers did transfer Joel Zumaya from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list to open up a spot on the 40-man roster.
