Ready to talk Tigers? Want to hear the opinion of the TigsTown staff? Welcome to the TigsTown Roundtable! This week's question: Do you think the Tigers will make any free agent additions between now and the start of spring training?

Paul Wezner, Executive Editor
At this point, I don't see the Tigers making any big splashes in the free agent market, however, that doesn't mean I think they'll be idle. At this point, there's enough depth in the bullpen that the Tigers aren't likely to invest heavily there, but I wouldn't rule out the Tigers making a move for a veteran bat as spring training gets closer, and available suitors continue to shrink in size. There are still quite a few outfield bats available, and if the Tigers can get one on the cheap they might give it serious consideration, especially given the injury and aging concerns that surround Carlos Guillen along with Magglio Ordonez. So, another aging big name that is willing to sign a more incentive-laden deal could be in the works as we reach the final weeks of the off-season before spring training, but beyond that, what you see now is likely what you'll get when the 2010 campaign gets under way.

Mark Anderson, Managing Editor
I don't think we are in line to see any significant signings by the Tigers throughout the remainder of the off-season, but I do think we will see a few minor signings. The Tigers do in fact have a complete roster at this juncture -- albeit a flawed one full of uncertainty, but they do have a complete roster none the less. If additional signings are made this winter, it will likely be along the lines of a journeyman reliever or a player coming off of injury that may warrant a flier during spring training. The Tigers are far more likely to remain active on the minor league free agent front, than they are at the Major League level. It's likely to be a pretty quiet month and a half before pitchers and catchers reports, so catch up on everything else you wanted to do this winter, and get ready for spring training!

Jason Avery, Associate Editor, Amateur Baseball
I don't think the Tigers will sign anyone prominent, but I think that as January progresses, the Tigers, like everyone else, will rummage through the bargain bin and hope to find a diamond in the rough. I can see the Tigers bringing in a veteran arm for the bullpen and a bat to try and spruce up the offense, but I wouldn't expect anything until the end of the month when prices begin to fall. Keep in mind, the Tigers didn't sign Brandon Lyon until the late stages of the offseason last year, and it goes without saying that the Tigers would be tickled if they are able to get that kind of success out of signing someone late this year.
