Neither the Tigers or Johnny Damon or his camp would confirm a deal had been done despite numerous reports over the weekend of a deal being complete. The deal was reportedly pending a physical, which Damon reportedly took Sunday in Lakeland.
Damon is expected to bat near the top of the order while sharing time in left field with Carlos Guillen. The two are also expected to see time at designated hitter.
Damon, a career .288 hitter, tied a career high with 24 home runs last season for the Yankees.
