Charlie Furbush had a rough outing for the Mud Hens as Toledo fell to Columbus 8-0. Furbush made it through just 2 1/3 innings, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits. Scot Drucker had a solid outing in relief though, tossing 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Fu-Te Ni also tossed a scoreless inning of relief. The offense scattered eight hits including a double from Jeff Frazier but couldn't put up any runs as they went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

As much as Furbush and the Hens struggled, thinks went almost as bad for Jon Kibler, and worse overall for the SeaWolves as they fell to Richmond 14-0. Kibler took the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) in four innings of work, while Rob Waite struggled in relief too, allowing seven more runs (though just two earned) in 1 2/3 innings. At the plate, Brent Wyatt had three hits including a double while Bryan Pounds added two doubles, but the club went a combined 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

The Flying Tigers fell to Dunedin 4-1 on Thursday night. Jacob Turner had another outstanding start, giving up one unearned run on two hits in five innings of work with a walk and seven strikeouts. Michael Torrealba though couldn't maintain the momentum, giving up three runs in two innings of work to take the loss. Luis Castillo had two hits and drove in Alexander Moreno for the club's only run.

The Whitecaps fell to Lansing again as the magic number remains at two for the 'Caps to claim a playoff spot. Luis Angel Sanz took the loss, giving up six runs (five earned) in 5 1/3 innings of work. Jamie Johnson had two hits including a triple and scored both of West Michigan's runs in the loss.

Rayni Guichardo helped pitch Connecticut to a 1-0 shutout win over Aberdeen on Thursday. Guichardo went six innings, scattering five hits while striking out five. Drew Gagnier, Logan Hoch and Miguel Mejia combined to pitch the final three innings, not allowing a run and preserving the shutout. Julio Rodriguez ripped a double and drove in P.J. Polk on a sacrifice fly for the club's only run in the first inning, but it was enough to pick up a win as they battle for the division crown.
