AAA Toledo Mud Hens
3-9, 4th in West Division
Despite a shining performance at the plate from Ben Guez Toledo was unable to top Indianapolis in the series opener, falling to the Indians 5-4. Toledo appeared to have the win locked up going in to the top half of the eighth inning, but Indianapolis drove in three runs in the eighth inning to overcome a 4-2 deficit. Evan Reed earned his first loss of the season in relief, surrendering three earned runs on two hits in 1/3 innings. Bruce Rondon took a blown save in the loss by allowing three inherited runners to score, but did strike out four over 1 2/3 innings. Starter Pat Misch did well in his no decision performance, giving up two earned runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. Guez went 2-for-3 while driving in three runs in the loss, while Bryan Holiday also drove in a run.
AA Erie Seawolves
4-6, 4th in Eastern Division
The SeaWolves found themselves on the wrong end of another close game against Bowie on Monday night, falling to the Baysox 5-4. Starting pitcher Kyle Lobstein struggled on his way to his first loss of the season, giving up five earned runs on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings. Wade Gaynor continued his strong start to the season offensively, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run and drawing a walk. Luis Castillo also drove in a run on a 2-for-4 night.
High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
4-7, 5th in North Division
Lakeland used two runs in the eighth inning to extend its lead over Brevard County and never looked back, topping the Manatees 6-3 in the series opener. Starting pitcher Thomas Collier earned a no decision in his shortened start, going 1 1/3 innings while surrendering three earned runs on four hits. Reliever Alex Burgos was dominant in his second win of the season, giving up just one hit in 3 2/3 innings of shutout work. Jason King had a big day offensively for the Flying Tigers, notching a two-run home run on a 2-for-5 night at the plate. Chad Wright also drove in two runs in the win.
Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
5-5, 5th in Eastern Division
West Michigan did not play Monday.
