2014 Detroit Tigers 25-Man Roster Projections

Spring training is just around the corner. Heading into camp, who has the inside track on a job? Here's TigsTown initial 25-man roster projection, along with an in-depth preview of each member slated to be on the roster on Opening Day 2014!

About the projections: Multiple times over the course of the spring, TigsTown will update the roster projections based on player performance, potential injuries and intel of who is likely headed north with the big league club. This snapshot is subject to change based on those factors.

Position Players

Most of the position player spots are locked up heading into camp. The only potential spot for competition would be at third base, but that only comes into play if Nick Castellanos struggles mightily against big league-caliber pitching. Among the bench spots, Bryan Holaday and Steve Lombardozzi are both likely to win a job, though they'll have internal competition from a handful of minor leaguers, including James McCann and Danny Worth.

Pitching Staff

The real questions here come in the back half of the bullpen, as is typically the case for most teams. The entire starting rotation is set, and the only battle will be for who looks the best among the next group for a spot start when one is needed. The bullpen though has a lot more competition, with Joe Nathan, Bruce Rondon and Joba Chamberlain likely secure, along with Al Alburquerque, but the final few spots having as many as a dozen arms vying for a spot.
